Martha qualified as a Registered Adult Nurse in 2002 at the University of Nottingham and her early career was in Derby. She joined the Diabetes Team at the Queen Elizabeth hospital, Birmingham in 2015 as a Diabetes Educator for healthcare professionals and the team won the Best in Care award for training/ education in 2017. Martha progressed into the Diabetes Specialist Nurse role in 2018 and in 2020, she joined Birmingham City University as a Senior Lecturer, progressing to Programme Lead in 2024. She continues to maintain her clinical links with University Hospitals Birmingham. Martha has authored 15 nurse-focused diabetes articles in peer-reviewed journals, authored diabetes book chapters, co-edited a book, peer reviews diabetes guidelines and articles and has chaired and presented at diabetes conferences. She is currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Health Practice.
